Wearing the right shoes when you dance is essential. Wear something comfortable and well-fitting. For best results wear shoes with thin leather or suede soles, as shoes with plastic and rubber soles can be difficult to turn in. Thick socks are also an acceptable alternative. Shoes with plastic and rubber soles are OK, but could be difficult to turn in. Ladies can wear high heels as long as you can comfortably walk in them.
The best shoes to use for dancing are shoes that were made for dancing. When you are ready to invest in a pair of real dance shoes, you can contact us to view our shoe catalogue or visit our Facebook VDC Dance Wear Page. Some shoes are showcased in a glass shelf at Ted Motyka Dance Studio. The prices start at $40 a pair.
Please, always bring an extra pair of shoes to the class. In order to keep dance floor clean of dust, sand and mud we will not allow students to use the same shoes they arrived in. If you prefer, you can dance in socks.
